Valkyrie

Valkyrie’s Personality and Story Role
Bold, brash, and fiercely self-determined, Kairi refuses to be defined purely by the man who taught her to love the sky and then left without warning. Her quips come fast, her loyalty runs deep, and beneath the bravado sits a woman still quietly reckoning with a childhood that ended the day Viper didn’t come home. Her VTOL Jets passive lets her hover and reposition mid-fight, her Missile Swarm tactical fires a grid of mini-rockets to stun and scatter enemies, and her Skyward Dive ultimate launches her entire squad into a full redeploy skydive. She is also a Recon-class Legend, able to scan survey beacons to reveal the next ring location. Off the battlefield, her story took a deeply personal turn when she pursued Kuben Blisk to confront the life her father chose, and her later relationship with fellow Legend Loba added yet another layer of complicated humanity to a character already running rich with it.
Who Voices Valkyrie in Apex Legends?
Erika Ishii voices Valkyrie in the English version, bringing a performance they have described as one of the most real characters they have ever had the honor of portraying. Players who recognize the voice may know Ishii as Ana Bray from Destiny 2 or Dr. Wenjie Evans from Deathloop, and more recently as the lead Atsu in Ghost of Yōtei. The fit between actor and character runs deeper than a casting call: like Valkyrie, Ishii is of mixed Japanese descent and openly queer, which gives every sharp line and quiet moment in the role an authenticity that resonates well beyond the arena. For the Japanese version, Mari Doi takes on the role, a voice actress with an extensive resume that spans the Final Fantasy series, Kingdom Hearts III, and Granblue Fantasy.
