Stand by Me Doraemon 2 Voice Actors: Full Cast Guide

Voice Acting: Japanese, English
Type: Movie

Stand by Me Doraemon 2 might be right up your alley. It’s the sequel to the 2014 3D animated Stand by Me Doraemon, and just like the first, it manages to hit that sweet spot between sci-fi, comedy, and emotional storytelling.

Released in Japan in 2020, this one’s directed by Ryūichi Yagi and Takashi Yamazaki again, and it takes inspiration from a couple of classic Doraemon stories mostly A Grandmother’s Recollections and The Day When I Was Born. So yeah, expect a few tear-jerking moments.

The plot dives into Nobita’s feelings about his late grandmother and his future marriage to Shizuka. It jumps between timelines, which sounds confusing, but it’s actually handled in a really charming way. There’s a bit of time travel (obviously it’s Doraemon), some classic Nobita goof-ups, and a lot of heart.

As for where to watch it? Netflix picked up the distribution rights for regions outside of Asia, and it dropped on the platform on December 24, 2021 just in time for a cozy holiday watch. In Asia, it’s also on Netflix, though not marked as a Netflix Original.

Next, let’s see the cast that brought these beloved characters to life because whether you’re watching in Japanese or English, the voice actors really help carry the emotional weight of this one.
