The voice

Every run in Escape from Playtime begins with orders, and they never come from a face. Mob Entertainment's co-op spinoff casts players as the Smiling Critters, scavenging a ruined Playtime Co. factory for a hidden presence known only as the Voice.

The Voice’s Role in the Story

Freedom and a home. That is the bargain the Voice offers toys who prove loyal and useful, as long as they keep hauling parts and resources back to Barry, the cart Poppy Playtime: Chapter 2 players will recognize. Its rhetoric borders on the devotional, greeting the Critters as “blessed” in the release date trailer and insisting that nothing matters except the work. The tone curdles fast, though: useless Critters, it warns, will be replaced. Its reach goes beyond words, since the Voice appears to reshape the factory itself, which is why the halls shift with every run. Its true motives stay locked away, and the quotas only climb higher.

Who Voices The Voice in Escape from Playtime?

Behind those sermon-like commands is Valentín Ángel Fernández, a bilingual Argentine actor based in Buenos Aires who works in both English and Spanish. He is no stranger to Playtime Co., having already voiced Norm, Scientist #3, Toy #1 and Specialist #4 in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 4. Here he trades those smaller parts for a commanding delivery that turns lines such as “The great work continues with new hands!” into something closer to a summons than a welcome.
