Megumi studied nursing for three years and worked as a nurse six months before beginning to study voice acting. She was educated at Arts Vision school, and her debut was in 1986 for the anime series Maison Ikkoku; since then, she has dedicated herself completely to voice acting. Her most notable roles include Lina Inverse in The Slayers, Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion, Lime in the Saber Marionette series, Faye Valentine in Cowboy Bebop, Female Ranma Saotome in Ranma ½, Musashi (Jessie) in Pokémon and Ai Haibara/Shiho Miyano (Sherry) in Detective Conan.
