Martin was born on February 17, 1992, in Las Vegas, Nevada. A fan of musical theater, she performed in several community theater productions in Las Vegas. She began modeling at the age of five. As a child, she worked consistently in a variety of national and international commercials, including Barbie and Cabbage Patch Dolls.She starred in the sequel, "Mean Girls 2", as the lead character, Johanna 'Jo' Mitchell, an outsider trying to fit in the social scene of high school. Alloy hired her for the lead role in the series "Wendy", a contemporary fantasy take on Peter Pan told from Wendy's point of view.Martin is best known for her lead role in "10 Things I Hate About You," she played the role of Bianca Stratford, a girl who knows how to strategize, put a plan in motion and navigate the minefield that is high school.Martin's first TV film was her role as the beautiful yet bossy Tess Tyler, queen bee of the hottest clique in camp, in Disney Channel's Original Movie "Camp Rock."
