Arcite 99-40

Video Game: Destiny 2

Stationed beside Lord Shaxx in the Tower's main courtyard, Arcite 99-40 stands as the last of Shaxx's personal combat frames, a machine built for war that now finds purpose in equipping Guardians for the Crucible. Once a champion among the Red Jack frames, his battlefield systems were stripped out and replaced with vendor protocols the moment Shaxx took command of humanity's premier PvP arena.

Arcite 99-40’s Personality and Story Role

What makes Arcite genuinely fascinating is not what he sells, but what he has absorbed. Years of operating at Shaxx’s side have left a deep imprint on the frame: he speaks with Shaxx’s cadence, mirrors his fists-on-hips stance, and even sports a pair of horns on his head in clear tribute to the Titan he serves. When Tex Mechanica operatives once tried to bribe him into fixing Crucible results for profit, Arcite shut them down with the kind of conviction you’d expect from Shaxx himself, not a reprogrammed vendor. After the Cabal’s assault on the Last City, he evacuated alongside Shaxx to The Farm, refusing to be separated from his commander. During the BRAVE Arsenal event, he took up a new post in the Hall of Champions, issuing weapons to Guardians defending Earth against the Witness’s forces, proving his loyalty extends far beyond the Tower’s walls.

Who Voices Arcite 99-40 in Destiny 2?

Arcite 99-40 is voiced by British actor Dominic Keating, who also portrays the Tower’s other vendor frame, Xander 99-40, giving both machines that same clipped, authoritative tone. Keating is best known to genre fans as Lieutenant Malcolm Reed, the tactical officer aboard the NX-01 in Star Trek: Enterprise, a role that defined his career on screen. He has reprised the voice of Arcite across multiple Destiny 2 expansions, including The Witch Queen and Lightfall.
