Jay Walker Talks About Playing Dylan Murphy in Battlefield 6 – Behind the Scenes

“Wait, That’s Actually Me in the Game”

Jay Walker plays Dylan Murphy in Battlefield 6. When he first saw himself in the game, he couldn’t believe it. “That’s me. That’s actually crazy that that’s me in there,” he said.

He’s been dying to talk about this for so long. It’s been absolutely killing him keeping this secret bottled up. “Just kidding EA, it’s been super easy, like totally chill. We’re good, right? Come on baby,” he joked, then admitted that sounded dumb.

Walker mentioned he’s been playing Battlefield games since high school, and as an actor he’s done video game work before, but this is literally the first time he’s been a player character. “On both a personal level and professional level? I’m completely geeked out about it,” he explained.

He admitted it’s crazy, and that he’s probably gonna say “crazy” like 90 more times, so he apologized in advance.

If You’re Looking for Leaks… He Can’t Help You

For anyone who hasn’t met him yet, Walker welcomed them and figured most people are probably looking for more information about the game or maybe some leaks. “What up Reddit?” he called out, but quickly shut down any leak expectations.

He explained they’ve got such an airtight NDA that his “NDA makes Trojans look like toilet paper. No leaks happening here, baby.”

He pointed out that as of when he was recording, some fans have probably played more of the campaign than he has. He got maybe 10 minutes at Tokyo Game Show which was dope, sick even, but it was just 10 minutes.

He’s Learning the Game Just Like Everyone Else

Walker admitted he’s basically in the same boat as everyone else, and has been for a while. He literally had to apply for Battlefield Labs just like everyone else. He was lucky enough to get in, and he was in the Discord leaving feedback for the devs just like other players. He said he was “super mid at the game too.”

“Hopefully not just like you though,” he added with a laugh. He explained he’s gotta put the hours in so he’s not getting absolutely dunked on by 12 year olds named BigPimpin69420. “I refuse to suck at this game,” he declared.

What He Can Actually Share Without Getting in Trouble

Since Walker is under NDA, what can he actually share without EA’s lawyers finding him and launching him into the sun?

He said obviously no spoilers, but he can say this was genuinely a dream job. Not just because he got to be in the game (which again, sick), but because of the people. He worked with incredible devs, writers, the mocap crew, their military advisors, literally the best team he could ask for. “It was a dream team,” he said.

He praised his castmates too. The rest of Dagger 13 and everyone else killed it every single day. “I seriously can’t wait for you guys to meet them in the game,” he shared.

Walker said he could go on and on but won’t because it’s starting to sound like an ad, which it’s not. He made clear this is totally unapproved content. “I guarantee there are multiple people from EA watching this holding their breath right now and they won’t exhale until this video is done,” he joked.

What It’s Like Being a Fan Who Works on What He Loves

Walker opened up about how he just genuinely loved working on this project. “It’s such a crazy experience being a fan of something and then actually getting to work on it,” he reflected. He thinks maybe other Battlefield fans might be interested in hearing what that experience was like, which is why he’s sharing all this.

He said if he can share even an ounce of the joy he felt working on this game with the rest of the Battlefield community, then this entire mission is worth it. That’s what he’s gonna do on his channel – give people a look behind the curtain from his POV. Fans can ask him questions, and he’s gonna play the game.

“Obviously it’ll be my first time getting to play myself in a video game, which again… crazy,” he noted.

What to Expect from His Channel

Walker mentioned that if people are new and coming from outside Battlefield stuff, his channel is mostly impressions and just clowning around. As a voice actor it’s like going to the gym, getting reps in. “Very unserious stuff,” he described.

He said it couldn’t be any more different than his character in Battlefield even though he’s very cool and always has been. “Murphy is infinitely cooler than me though,” he admitted.

So if people want to drop into that chaos they’re welcome to, or if they just want to stick to the Battlefield content so they don’t break immersion, he totally gets it. “No hard feelings,” he assured.

What He’s Doing Before Launch

Wrapping things up, Walker noted there’s only a few more days left until launch. Between now and then he’s gonna play the Battlefield 2042 event to try and unlock some stuff. He hasn’t even started it yet.

He asked fans to drop their campaign theories in the comments and promised he’ll react to his favorites. If that sounds good, he encouraged people to leave a thumbs up and subscribe for more behind the scenes content, gameplay, and general ridiculousness.

“I’ll see you all soon. Peace,” he signed off.
