BMO

Every treehouse has a heart, and in the Land of Ooo, that heart runs on electricity and an endless supply of childlike wonder. BMO returns in Adventure Time: Side Quests as the quirky, lovable living video game console at the center of Finn and Jake's early adventures, back before the bigger stakes of the main series took hold.

BMO’s Role in Adventure Time: Side Quests

Set during the earlier days of Finn and Jake’s heroics, Side Quests gives BMO room to shine in the kind of standalone misadventures the character thrives in. Part game console, part alarm clock, part self-appointed detective, BMO exists in a category entirely of their own. Their loyalty to Finn runs deep, and their tendency to play-act elaborate fantasy scenarios when no one is looking adds a quietly surreal dimension to the treehouse dynamic. BMO once famously claimed to be “incapable of emotion” moments before getting visibly annoyed, and that contradiction, sweet on the surface, surprisingly complex underneath, is exactly what makes them so compelling to watch.

Who Voices BMO in Adventure Time: Side Quests?

Niki Yang reprises her role as BMO, a part she has carried since the original series premiered in 2010. Yang’s casting came about almost by accident: after professional voice actors failed to nail the right innocent tone, creator Pendleton Ward turned to Yang, whose natural speaking voice captured something no auditioned performance could manufacture. Beyond BMO, Yang also voices Lady Rainicorn throughout the Adventure Time franchise and is widely recognized for playing Candy Chiu in Disney’s Gravity Falls, a role that further cemented her reputation for warmly eccentric characters.
